Mrs. Doreen McPhee received both her undergraduate and graduate (Masters Degree) from Glassboro State College. She continues to teach fifth grade and teaches both fifth grade sections of Social Studies. Mrs. McPhee has been teaching for thirty two years! Currently she is an active member in the NJEA and the GEA (Gibbsboro Education Association).
Mrs. McPhee's Social Studies classes usually spend the first two months of school learning about ancient cultures of North America. They will be studying the Aztecs, Mayas, and Native American culture groups such as the Tlingit of the Northwest, Lakota Sioux of the Plains, Iroquois of the Eastern Woodlands, and the Hopi and Pueblos of the Southwest.
Each student will research on a group that interested him/her. Their final project will be a visual depiction of some aspect of this culture.
The projects in the past have been just wonderful and every student becomes very proud of his/her accomplishments. Native American Indian projects can be viewed on this web site by clicking above or below to view: (Sorry, it does take a while to load but well worth the wait!)
Vocabulary Tests- Weekly vocabulary tests are given every Friday. The new words are obtained on Friday for the next week.
