Preschool Search

Our preschool handicapped program runs from 12:00 noon until 2:45pm every day here at Gibbsboro.  It is a wonderful program with a great deal of emphasis placed on communication skills and motor skills.  Mrs. Shannon runs the program with the help of a classroom aide, Occuptional Therapist, Physical Therapist and Speech Therapist.  The class size is limited by law and the eligibility requirements are also written into New Jersey's Administrative Code.

Children must qualify in order to be admitted to this selective program or to the other program options available.  The children have to go through a series of educational tests to show that they are in need of this free program which is only open to Gibbsboro residents.  The students all demonstrate need in some area and have to show a significant delay.

If your three year old does not yet know his colors, shapes, parts of the body, he or she may qualify for this free and special program.  If your child is in an Early Intervention Program, please call us immediately so that we can plan ahead.   It is so important to help children at an early age.  As a matter of fact, many children go through the preschool disabled program and are mainstreamed right into a regular kindergarten.

For more information, please call the Director of Special Services, Patricia Slager, at the Gibbsboro School.  Her phone number is 856-783-5344 or 856-783-1140.  Or reach her by email at pslager@gibbsboro.com.
